Facebook Marketplace alert apps: compare the actual offer

Disclosure We make Sift. Vendor pages were reviewed on 17 October 2026. This is a documentation comparison; we did not run a live alert-speed, coverage or profitability test.

Quick answer

An alert app is worth considering when you need recurring searches and a practical way to review new matches. Compare supported marketplaces, search limits, notification delivery and the full billing commitment. Vendor words such as instant describe their offer; they are not independent evidence that a buyer will receive every listing first.

Define the alert you would act on

Before choosing a subscription, write a search that could lead to a purchase: an acceptable product family, realistic budget, travel area and required condition. “Cheap furniture” can produce endless interruptions. “A desk that fits this room and can be collected this weekend” gives you a decision to make.

An alert is useful only if you can assess it. If your schedule prevents pickup for several days, a speed promise may matter less than clear filters and a manageable shortlist. If the item is rare, broader model wording may matter more than a very tight search.

The following are vendor-documented offers, not features independently timed or verified by us in a live account. Availability, taxes, currency, app-store billing and plan terms should be confirmed before purchase.

For Canadian searches, Kijiji’s own alerts are also worth evaluating. Its May 2026 help article documents daily web matching-listing emails and daily or weekly app options. Start there if that frequency fits your purchase.

How to read speed claims

A check interval is how often a service says it looks for matches. Delivery time is how long it takes a notification to reach you after the relevant listing becomes available to that service. Your time to open it and contact the seller is another delay.

Flipify, for example, documents different Basic and Premium check intervals and says delivery can vary with marketplace availability. Its current explanation is more useful than treating every “instant” headline as the same measurable promise.

Do not turn a vendor interval into a guaranteed maximum listing age. A listing timestamp can be approximate, a notification may be delayed, and a repost can resemble a new listing. These are reasons to keep a careful log, not reasons to claim a particular vendor misses results without testing it.

A trial that answers a buying question

Use the same buying specification across the options you evaluate. Record a modest set of real observations during the trial; do not invent a universal coverage score from a handful of notifications.

RelevanceSuitable, accessory-only, wrong variant or too farIdentifies a filtering problem
Buyer actionViewed, asked a question, passed or arranged inspectionConnects alerts to decisions
Subscription termsBilling date, charge and cancellation routePrevents a forgotten trial becoming an expense

A missed listing is meaningful only if you can establish that it matched the saved criteria and was available during the relevant period. Save that evidence for support. Do not post seller details publicly to demonstrate a product complaint.

Compare the whole bill

Look at the amount charged and the commitment, not only a large monthly-equivalent number. Swoopa’s plan page, for example, presents longer commitments alongside monthly choices. Review the current plan terms before choosing a trial. Our Swoopa alternatives comparison lays out the listed commitments alongside options for a smaller number of searches.

For a tool priced per watchlist, count the separate searches you need. An exact model, a common misspelling and a broader product family might be three searches if the service cannot combine them. Check what counts toward the plan and whether paused searches still occupy allowance.

Illustrative arithmetic, not a vendor quote: three searches at $8 each per month cost $24 monthly. If you use them for two months, the subscription cost is $48 before tax. Add that amount to your buying budget; do not assume a single bargain will recover it.

If you buy through an app store, use that store’s subscription controls. If you buy on the web, find the vendor’s billing controls. Removing an app or browser extension is not the same action as confirming cancellation of a paid subscription.

Notifications do not establish value or safety

A low asking price can reflect missing parts, the wrong revision, damage, a long drive or an unreliable listing. Use the total-cost calculator to account for pickup and known required extras.

An alert also does not reserve an item. The seller may already have conversations underway, and an immediate generic message may be less useful than one clear question about the item. Agree an inspection and payment procedure before making a commitment.

Start with the least complicated option that meets your actual need. Sift is free to start: filters, price history and a watched search on your computer, with phone alerts and more searches on Sift Pro. A dedicated paid service is worth a trial when its documented delivery and search allowance solve a problem you have already identified.

Questions people ask

Which Marketplace alert app is fastest?

This review does not establish a fastest app. A vendor’s check interval and an end-to-end alert delivery time are different measures. Test the same search and record the evidence before drawing a conclusion.

Are Marketplace alert apps worth paying for?

They can be useful when a defined search produces actionable candidates and the subscription fits the purchase. Count useful alerts, total fees and your ability to respond, rather than assuming alerts create profit.

Is a free trial really free?

Check whether payment details are required, when billing starts, the commitment length and where to cancel. A monthly equivalent can belong to a longer commitment.

Does Sift replace a mobile alert subscription?

For most buyers, yes. Sift is free for filters, price history and a watched search with alerts on your computer, and Sift Pro sends new matches to your phone by Telegram, ntfy or email from $6.99 a month. Every plan also gets an AI second opinion on any listing and a VIN check on car ads.
