Arrive with a plan.
Quick answer
Enter the item, agreed time, transport arrangements and the checks you want to complete. The planner creates a printable handover plan. Confirm the arrangement with the seller separately: this tool does not book a collection, send a message or reserve a listing.
Make it yours
Get ready for collection
Make a practical handover plan. A neighborhood or meeting-point description is enough; no exact home address is needed.
Ready to find your next option?
Sift filters your Marketplace searches, marks every price drop and gives you a second opinion on any listing.
Confirm the arrangement before setting off
Agree on the item, price, time and what is included. Check that the seller is ready for the inspection or ordinary demonstration you need. If something changes, reconfirm before travelling.
A neighbourhood or meeting-point description is enough for this worksheet. You do not need to enter a home address or private seller information.
The message builder can help draft a concise confirmation for you to review and send yourself.
Plan how to load and transport it
Measure the item in the form it will be transported. Confirm whether removable legs, shelves or another component will actually be removed and who will do it.
Check the seller’s exit, the vehicle opening, the space inside and the route into your home. For rectangular measurements, the furniture fit checker provides a starting comparison. It does not assess lifting, turns or stairs.
For heavy, fragile or installed items, arrange suitable professional help rather than improvising.
Decide what to inspect
Add the checks that could change your decision to buy. “Inspect condition” is less useful than “try the height controls, confirm the power lead and check the underside for damage.”
Use the category checklist builder and the relevant buying guide to make that list. Bring ordinary equipment you need for an agreed test, such as a tape measure or a compatible cable.
Keep the handover conditional on the actual item
The appointment is a chance to confirm the purchase, not a reason to ignore a problem. If the item differs from the description or an essential part is absent, stop and discuss it before paying.
Use an appropriate meeting arrangement for the item and situation. For public exchange options, see safe exchange zones. Large items may require a different collection plan.
A filled plan for one desk
This illustrative plan shows the level of detail to enter. It is not a booking or a claim that a particular desk will fit.
| Planner field | Example entry |
|---|---|
| Item | Desk with removable legs |
| Agreed date and time | Saturday, 11 am–noon; reconfirm before leaving |
| Meeting point | Agreed collection entrance |
| Vehicle, delivery or helper plan | Suitable van and one agreed helper; ground-floor collection |
| Measurements and access | Top 55 × 28 inches; seller confirms legs remove; verify the complete loading and entry route |
| Inspection and included items | Check top and leg joints; count legs, brackets and fixing bolts; confirm $100 agreed price |
| Things to bring | Tape measure, blankets, suitable securing equipment and a labelled hardware bag |
The result turns your inspection and equipment entries into checkboxes and keeps the arrangement above them. If a bolt is missing at handover, leave that check unresolved and confirm the appropriate replacement before treating the desk as complete. A prepared van and helper do not make a changed item acceptable.
If you have several stops
Create one plan for each purchase. Leave room for inspection and delays, and do not make a later appointment depend on an earlier seller being perfectly on time.
The multiple-pickup guide adds a time manifest and load-order approach. This planner does not calculate a route or live travel time.
Keep the result
Copy or print the plan before leaving. Checked items remain on the current page while it is open; reset clears the current result. Confirm any essential detail directly with the seller rather than relying on an old saved plan.
